not sure if anything about this has been posted, I tried a search but it found nothing
I just got sent this information from a friend who is a wildlife carer
"TO ALL WILDLIFE CARERS
YOUR HELP IS NEEDED
Dear wildlife carer
Many of you will have some very strong feelings about the culling of our Macropods for the meat trade industry and many of you will know that the whole truth about this industry does not get into the public arena.
Last October Russia stopped the import of Kangaroo meat which incidentally is not just Kangaroos but all Macropods, due to bacterial contamination of the meat.
AgForce, a Queensland organisation has set up a meeting with the new Russian Minister for Trade, Yuri Aleshin and their sheep and wool President Brent Finlay to try to re-establish the trade of Macropod meat to Russia
AgForce and Mr. Aleshin will visit the Roma sale yards, a grain farm at Dalby and the Dalby Biorefinery next Tuesday, 8 June, then inspect Game Meat Processing at Wulkuraka and Swifts beef processing plant at Dinmore QLD on Wednesday, 9 June.
If we are ever to have any hope of stopping this horrific practice and the needless slaughter of our Macropods it’s imperative that we bond together and present a united front.
Attached is a letter to Minister Yuri Aleshin, if you care about our wildlife please send a copy of this letter with your name or if you feel you would rather write your own letter then please do."
I have the letter but it's long and I don't know if I can attach it as a file
but here are the details if any of you want to send your own letter
Mr. Yuri Aleshin
Trade Representative for Russia

I love macropods so very much... and that fact that people eat them is so upsetting. Does it not sink in to Australians that we eat our national emblem?

I think people are proud of it. :|
I really hate the bogan pride of Australia where it's manly to go out and consumed as much meat as possibly. x_X
I love our animals too and I think they should be protected and respected. Australian animals are so unique. The thought of eating a kangaroo (or others) has always irked me, even when I was a meat eater. Guess conditioning only goes so far.
