Why do people insist on coming here and saying this nonsense? Seriously. What are you trying to prove?

Sadly it's usually up to us to *disprove* the misconceptions that have been drilled into peoples' heads by the meat, dairy and egg industries... it's no wonder people are confused!

I think this person might have been told some things by family etc that might aren't necessarily true but it doesn't mean they're wasting our time, this is our chance to set the facts straight.

Even if it were true that we need meat to be healthy (which is most definately not the case), I would actually prefer to have my health suffer than to contribute to the pain and suffering of animals. I do not believe I have the right to exploit them for my own selfish means.

So, to me, the health benefits of being vegan are really just a bonus that comes with my desire to not cause harm to animals.

And one could argue that given the massive impact animal agriculture has on our environment, ultimately this is just another way in which the consumption of animal products will contribute to the world's ill health.

I think it's really important that everyone on here is friendly and supportive, I was really impressed with the way that you all were so polite! There's no point in getting into an argument and it's good if you can change one persons mind or at least help them to be a bit more informed- even if they come on here (as i suspect some people do) just to have a go and start an argument.  peace

Two words - Carl Lewis. If a vegan can become the fastest man on earth, I think that is proof enough that we don't need meat to survive and to thrive.
