Even if it were true that we need meat to be healthy (which is most definately not the case), I would actually prefer to have my health suffer than to contribute to the pain and suffering of animals. I do not believe I have the right to exploit them for my own selfish means.

So, to me, the health benefits of being vegan are really just a bonus that comes with my desire to not cause harm to animals.

And one could argue that given the massive impact animal agriculture has on our environment, ultimately this is just another way in which the consumption of animal products will contribute to the world's ill health.
but animals still die and they just go to waste becasue YOU"RE not eating it....... >sad

u said but we "can" live on tofu and  water. so how do we need meat. vegans and vegetarians are still living, we're not like zombies walking around, so desperate for meat. we aren't made to eat meat. [email protected][email protected]!

We do not "neeeeeed" meat.  What we need are vitamins, minerals, fats, oils, proteins and other fun things like that.

If you look up the Recommended Daily Intake of these things (e.g. B12, Vitamin C, Calcium) and compare them to what is actually in tofu or soy milk or vegetables or fruit you can see how you can get more than what you need from these items without resorting to eating animals or their by products.

I personally have been veg*n for a year now and have been to the doctor and had my blood checked; all my levels were healthy and fine.  I live with a guy who's been vegan since birth and he recently got checked out by a doctor and told that he is fine.

I can understand your skepticisim; I was skeptic myself once.  Once you do the research though, it's easy to see that there is no harm in being veg*n.  I started myself for environmental reasons and now I do it for animal rights reasons.  I don't see why an animal should be killed just so I can go "mmm meat".

In regards to the comment that the animals will get killed anyway: less demand = less production.  E.g. at work if we don't sell a lot of a certain movie, we stop selling it.

Hope that all of that^^ helps happy.

That's why you eat a balanced vegan diet and you'll get all the nutrients your body will ever need to function correctly (or even better) ... happy

Hee! Are you aware of how many people around the world are vegetarian and vegan? And how many cultures see abstaining from meat as second-nature?

people are still just killing animals for food and the food that you doin't eat is going to waste and that animal has died for you to eat and you don't want it.
*sigh* These comments really are just stupuid you know.

If all the vegetarians started eating meat, there would be a higher demand for meat and thus they would have to breed more animals to kill for meat.
