It doesn't overly surprise me (though it does disgust me). To many meat eaters, a pig is a cow is a... horse... I guess. And honestly, to me there is no difference between them either, but in the sense that I won't eat any of them, who am I to draw the ethical line. I wonder if people would eat dog or cat though. Some people probably would. Does anyone know the laws as to what animals are allowed to be sold as meat?
i agree. sometimes when people ask me why i don't eat pigs/cows etc, i say 'well, i don't really see a pig as much different to my dog' [being an animal and having feelings.] but then i say 'would you eat your dog?' and they'd say NO WAY! which confuses me... i mean, it's still a life.  gosh i'm so bad at explaining things lol
Lol no I understand. Thats what I meant too.
wink
I totally agree. Some people just don't understand, and sadly never will ... sad
I had that argument with a colleague the other day, He said meat is meat to him, and he would eat whale, horse, pig, cow etc.
And I said "what about a dog or cat then?"
"nah"
"why?"
"cats and dogs have a personality"

Are you serious? Every animal has a personality, even fish and flys. It's just that cats and dogs are given more of an opportunity to show theirs.

I guess he's not that much of a monster, he does meatless mondays and thursdays... which is better than most people.

Yeah..
Well, that is better than most. In Ireland i think it is, the whole country has meatless Mondays. I wish Australia had that. That would be amazing..

But I dont understand how people can think that a dog or cat is any different from a cow, pig, chicken, or even horse! Theya re all animals like us.. and it just blows my mind how some people don't get that..

I saw this in the paper! It's disgusting!

But you know what confuses me most?
When meat eaters get angry about this...It's like, why is it okay to eat all the other animals you eat, but not horses? Get angry about all the other animals too!

Exactly. Imagine if everyone knew that it'a wrong to eat animals and animal products; if everyone was vegan. The world would be so weird.. It would be great! Then we wouldnt have to worry about all this stuff, and the poor horses, cows, chickens, pigs, sea creatures, dogs, cats, rabbits, lambs, insects, and any other animals that are killed for human consumption.

I still dont understand that the government could make this legal! I'm sure they dont really care about the animals at all, but still!

Same with Kangaroos!!! It's our own freaking animal!!!! How can we eat out OWN animal? Grrr. Stupid people make me so mad... Sorry. lol.

sad

I note that the Agiculture Minister, Mr. Redman, who has allowed the consumption of horse meat to become legal, is also one of the key decision makers in the fate of the Kimberley Wild Horses.....no hope for them obviously.
