Animals and kids just have a natural connection... and you can always tell the ppl later in life who never had a pet dog or cat as a child.... they are just very different. Maybe that's just me noticing that?
No, I agree. Any child who has never had a pet would just be...so deprived. I personally believe having a pet is a part of growing up. The child learns responsibilty through looking after a companion. And anyways, I know when I get really down, my dog is the only one who can cheer me up. He knows when I'm sad and the littlest thing he could do will make me smile (like licking my remainding yoghurt clean from the tub, lol) and people with pets live longer, less stressful lives.
