Hi, I'm new!

Long-time lurker, first time posting.

Love this site and just wanted to say thanks for the up-to-date news and empowering information, not to mention great recipes! I am a "new" vegetarian- about 2 months and going strong. Best decision I've ever made!

A little about me- studying psychology, graduating at the end of the year, I have two beautiful horses and hope to add to the menagerie over time by way of rescue animals of all shapes and sizes happy

That's about it for now! Look forward to chatting with you all  happy

Thanks everyone for the welcome, I should clarify that my current two horses aren't rescue horses.... they have led very privileged lives! However there have been past rescues and there will definitely be future ones. happy

Hi Aimee **edited to add, "and Zoolnerd!"

Hope I'm "replying" to this right!

Not too sure what I'll do after I graduate though I am hoping to fuse what I've learnt from studying psych (both human and non-human) with training horses/riders, the ultimate goal being to reduce horse wastage statistics (read: horses sent to slaughterhouses). Around 66% of non-racing horses that are sent to that place, are sent there because of training or behavioural issues. Also, I know people involved with re-training/re-homing racehorses that didn't make the grade, and I would love to help them with that too. So much to do, so little time happy

I honestly didnt know that!my niave self thought that Horses would of been just sold to farms but obviously they are treated just like disposable objects aswell. So glad to know somebody wants to dedicate their live to saving animals!

isnt it just disgusting how humans just "waste" animals? The same goes on with the male Chicks and calves on farms that arent needed. Almost all of the baby chicks are culled, most of the time inhumanly and baby calves are either shipped off to the veal industry but most Dairy cows that arent needed for reproducing are killed. Disgusting.
