Does anyone else get annoyed by vegans who only go vegan to get skinny, and then carry around leather bags etc?

Strictly speaking, they aren't actually vegan, they just follow a plant-based  (or vegan) diet.

I'm only annoyed by them because I didn't get skinny.

I suppose, but they do claim it. And it just frustrates me so much.

Well, I am friends with one (vegan for health and weightloss). tongue
He doesn't do it to be trendy or nasty to vegans for animal welfare, he clearly says he is vegan for health purposes.

Personally, if people arn't going to turn vegan for the animals, if they will do it for their health the animals still win. So any vegan is a good thing. happy

Going veg for health is not such a bad thing. More often than not, in order to stick to it they have to have at least some resemblance of compassion and awareness about animal rights issues. Its much easier to 'cheat' if they view it as a diet rather than a compassionate lifestyle decision. Regardless, it's less animals eaten!

I agree with this.

Plus - how many vegans do you hear say things like: 'I became vegan for animals but later realised the environmental and health benefits'  there is no reason that can't happen the other way around, too.
