Personally I'm not a fan of PETA. The singer Pink disconnected herself from them. She said they lied to her about a whole heap of stuff so they could use her in campaigns. They just used her for their own benefits. That's wrong, no matter what the agenda. You can't do bad things for the benefit of good. It doesn't work that way. That's Hitler thinking. I think we have much better organisations in this country to support who act with diligence and truth to get what they want. Not underhandedness. Animals Australia being one of those.
P!nk has not disconnected herself from them
she still promotes them in all of her cd booklets,. concert programs etc

and featured in one of their ads only 2 months ago
All P!nk every said was that when she did the anti-mulesing stuff she wasn't completely informed or understanding of the situation.
She still supports PETA massively.

I feel that's a wacky exaggeration.

'I probably could have been a lot more researched, on my own. That's the lesson I'm taking from this. My message was, in my mind, boycott animal cruelty - not an entire industry, not Australia, obviously, because it's my favorite country.', Pink said in her apology, aired on Nine Network television.

The first thing I have to say is: WTF?!
Why would they think that that ad would help!? It just makes us who are Veg look stupid.
I don't understand why they would think that would get people to want to go Vegetarian/Vegan. Crazy.

i LOVE peta
peta kills animals is a bunch o bulls**t anyway dont even bother reading it.

in my opinion peta have done more for animals than anyone else GENERALLY in the world. happy
I AGREE , EVEN IF THEY DO LET ANIMALS OUT OF CAGES ITS MORE THAN MOST PEOPLE HAVE DONE !

HOW MANY PEOPLE ON HERE ARE BEING ACTIVE AND SAVING ANIMALS ? at least they are doing something, how stupid can you be to read sites made by the meaqt industry and fight with other activist !! idiots
I completely agree Hayley. Sure, letting the dogs out of the cages all together apparently wasn't that well thought out but PETA aren't the 'bad guys' here. Should dogs be shown like inanimate objects? Definetly not.

Congratulations to PETA for doing for what most of us do not have the resources - or guts- to do.

Shrewd aren't they?

Produce an advert they know won't get broadcast due to it's offensive nature. Offer lots of money to broadcast it, safe in the knowledge that it will be refused, and they sit back while newspapers round the world give free publicity to a Go Vegetarian message.

Genius.

Don't associate yourself with them, they look good on the front, but they kill more animals than they save.
I have heard this too, and it's horrible, but I still believe PETA to be a great organisation.
According to petakillsanimals.com, peta has killed 21, 651 animals since 1998. (From the chart, not the text.) That's thirteen years! These animals are sick and there are simply not enough people adopting dogs for homes to be found for all of them.
While it is horrible for these animals to be killed, you can't ignore the other good PETA does. They are the most recognisable animal rights organisation in the world, they have wonderful ad campaigns and informative websites that help many people make the switch to a more compassionate lifestyle.
They have petitions that immediately target companies that abuse animals, from DKNY to Ringling Bros - and they get results! Lipton Tea agreed to stop testing on animals, the University of Texas at Dallas stopped performing neuroscience experiments on rats. When PETA targeted fast-food companies, Temple Grandin (the most powerful welfare scientist in America and designer of more than half the country's cattle slaughter facilities) said she saw more welfare improvements in one year than in the previous 30.
What other organisation can say they've done all this?
PETA isn't perfect, but they manage to do a hell of a lot.
