So I've heard some very... objectionable things about PETA lately. Where do you stand with regard to the organization?

I accept that Peta attracts attention to the animal rights cause through it's shock tactic campaigns, BUT, some of them do make me cringe. I've been vegan for 11 years, vegetarian for 6 years prior, and have been heavily involved in AR groups in the past.

I'm no prude, but I really think that some of the Peta campaigns just go too far and sadly put people off taking the issues seriously.

As a woman I really object to them resorting to using fake porn sites and female sexuality to draw attention to animal cruelty.

Time for Peta to change strategy to a more intelligent, and civilised level ..... Animals Australia, Voiceless and Animal Liberation groups are leading the way and succeeding with gaining support from the masses.

Perhaps try some warped comedy campaigns instead of using porn or violence???

I mean they do actually raise awareness, i have recieved countless emails, letters and i would NOT have been aware of amny things back in the days when i was omni and didnt care,

PETA are the reason I became aware of FUR, theyre also the reason i stopped buying cosmetics tested on animals............Without those campaigns I wouldnt have cared. Theyre shock campaigns worked on me.

Now im an activist i can seek out other groups such as Animals AUS - like i did .and can offer help through them. for instance i donate to AA monthly instead of PETA, as AA is local and i know more about where the money goes.

But when peta email me asking me to send a letter to this or that cruel organisation I DO.

And they have bullied companies into stopping animal testing and such....they have done some good stuff.

Lol i have a painting of new york & london in my bedroom. The painting of new york, one of the billboards in the painting has "PETA kills animals.com" written on it. Just thought it was a funny observation

definately not all bad- they have strange advertising campaigns, true.. the website was obviously proved to be a hoax- the people that organised the website also did multiple others on other organisations and businesses- i just think it's funny that it's apart of this painting haha

from what i see  it if people wernt so damn irresponsible with overbredding these poor animals they wouldnt have to end up in shelters and with peta to even face euthanasia.

...on its '7 things you didnt know about PETA'  they criticise Peta for being involved in arson attempts and things on laboratories that test on animals.. fire up babies. save the animals....id go to jail to save animals any day

secondly they criticise PETA for their anti meat & anti milk campaigns targeted at children. well so peta should. I only wish someone like peta had tried to convince me at a young age.... i hate that i was fed meat and milk

they also critise peta 4 claiming jesus was a vegetarian - so what ? whether he was or wasnt . if it makes people go veggo , so be it.

gahh. the only thing i can really see is the stats of the % of animals they euthanised. if they really had other options and could find homes then yes they should clean their act up but like i say people are quick to criticise PETA.....yet peta is in place to try and reverse the cruelty we create

EDIT: just noticed above post - it wouldnt surprise me it being a hoax.... at all. . peta do more good than harm IMHO

but im open to opinions?
