I dont know if this will help but in Leichhardt theres a good Indian Doctor at the family medical practice on Norton Street. My boyfriend had a nasty ear infection when he lived in Rozelle and we went there.. The doctor was great, took all his details and even took a photo of him! But the room was slightly creepy, he was OBSESSED with Elvis.. Elvis memorabilia everywhere.. EVEYWHERE!!! He also had really long hair in a pony tail happy

Dont know if hes veg, but he looked like he would be open to the idea! ecstatic

I had a problem last year and went through about 5 GPs before we got one who said I should go to a specialist. One of the doctors I saw said that my problem was probably from being vegetarian, then another, when Mum mentioned Spirulina, told us we shouldn't go using stuff from the internet - Mum and I were disgusted because we'd never said anything about the internet, we buy it from Woolies! He was a bit of a know-it-all, we think that he assumed that because he'd never heard of it, it must not be any good.

I'm going to med school after my undergraduate degree, you guys can all come see me if you want happy

My doctor is completely against a vegan diet, and even a vegetarian one. He was part of the reason to why my parents struggled with the fact that I'm vegetarian and is definately not helping me go vegan..

I don't go to the doctors for regular check ups, only when I am sick. So I rarely go. But I did get a blood test once and the doctor I had seemed pretty weirded out when I told her I was vegan. She didn't say anything offensive, it was more just the tone of her voice and facial expressions.

I just had a blood test 7 months after going veg/vegan and I'm proud to announce

Not one vitamin or mineral deficiency.

My iron isn't super high, but I used to be anemic and now I'm not.

My B12 was high

All my hormonal levels were good (my cycle was all out of whack so it's not a food/hormone thing)

I still worry about suppliments, she only advised me to eat a free of my friend's chooks eggs every few weeks and maybe take a calcium supp but apart from that, all good!

I've been veggo for 11.5 years, and my iron is above the normal range.

My mum works at a hospital. I let her borrow my copy of The China Study.
A week later I had an email forwarded on from my mum saying about how bad/dangerous a vegan diet is. It was written by my mum's Nutritionist colleague.

Sigh. So anyone who goes to see her will get a dose of "Meat and two veg is the healthiest option, end of story"
That's weird a nutritionist would say that. A lot of nutritionist agree that a proper veg diet is a good diet. My housemate's personal trainer/nutritionist tells her she needs to cut out or at least cut down on her meat consumption. She writes her up meal plans with lots of vegies, legumes, wholegrains and fruit. Obviously your mum's colleague is a dither head.

I've never had problems with doctors. My regular doctor was in his 80's, Dr Percy Rogers. Gorgeous old man. Great doctor. He didn't even bat an eyelid when I told him I was vego. I had severe sinus infections all the time. He had retired by then so I saw a different doctor. When I said I'm veg she said "ohh well that could be the problem because you may be low on Iron and most definitely B12.' But she didn't say it in a harsh or judgmental way. My results came back perfect. She was very surprised. Haha.

Me too! I just go for asthma meds or The Pill or ( if I get bitten by a cat at work, haha!). I haven't been sick in 4 years since becoming vegan! Woot! party

I love it when I get a blood test done every few years and it comes back normal! I can see the doctors weren't expecting it and they can't say anything!!!  broccoli

when my wife and I went and saw my wife's doctor (since childhood) about the pregnancy and us being vegan, she asked a few questions on nutrition but ceased asking once it was clear that we knew our stuff very well.

A couple of weeks later we went to again to see a gp but ended up being with another doctor. When she briefly left the room to get something, we saw my wife's file on screen. It was a whole page worth of notes. What attracted our interest was that amongst the text of her file,  the word V E G A N was present in a font size 3 times larger than the rest... and in red. We had a giggle after that.
HAHA! Too funny! Should have read "FREAK!" tongue
