On Wednesday last week, jumps horse All Square met his death on the track, once again proving that Racing Victoria’s new safety measures are ineffective in stopping horse deaths.
It’s crucial that we maintain pressure on Racing Minister Rob Hulls about this issue and also continue to inform the public of how utterly useless the new safety measures are at preventing injury and death to horses.
This Saturday, The Hiskens Steeplechase, regarded as the Cox plate of jumps racing, will be held forcing more horses to face injury and death.
Please join other Animals Australia volunteers and the Coalition for the Protection of Racehorses in a peaceful demonstration this Saturday at Moonee Valley Racecourse against the Hiskins Steeplechase.
With the highest death rate since 1994 and a fall rate twice as high as 2008, its important a strong presence is at the event to highlight the continuing cruelty.
