Available at most health food stores, prices vary (where I look anyway). Has a bit of a cheesy taste I think. A lot of vegan/vegetarian recipes ask for it, and a lot of vegan cheese recipes. I add it to pasta's too, and sprinkle it on wraps and sandwiches. It's healthy and has B12 in it
I've been watching a series called "Casualty 1900s" recently, it's based on the historical records of the casualty department of the London Hospital. There was one episode towards the end that mentioned the "Anti-Viv" hospital and I did a little bit of my own research and it turns out that the anti-vivisection movement was so big and had such credibility back then that there was an entire hospital run on anti-vivisection principles. Here's a bit of its history:
Gotta admit I'm a bit disappointed in MasterChef with their episode where contestant trawl for their own seafood to cook. They should be encouraging more sustainable fishing options..!! (Or not at all really...)
So ive just been researching a little bit about the bad effects of soybeans, but im wondering, would soybeans grown in Australia cause much of an issue? Or what about organic soybeans?
unsure :/ but that reminds me - is Sanitarium SO GOOD Regular soymilk no longer vegan? I noticed it now has more Calcium plus Vitamin D...and it doesnt say ''contains no animal ingredients'' anymore... bit sneaky. hmmm perhaps the vitamin d is D3 from lanolin ?
Got 2 new rescues coming on Friday! hehehe just a little bit excited. They are 2 little jersey bobby calves, one is quiet skinny from what ive seen from photos and the other one has large gashes and missing fur all over his body, they look to be around 3 weeks old. They were used as part of the high school program " Cows create Careers" and since they have finished the program they were going to send them to the abattoir until my younger sister found out and then we organized with the school to purchase the little boys and bring them home and get them back to health I'll post photos of them when they arrive home ^_^
I recently saw an article in my local newspaper about a high school participating in "Cows Create Careers". In the pictures both the students and the cows looked so happy. And in the end the cows are killed? That's just horrible.
In 2012, there were 180 schools participating in this program. Imagine how many innocent animals would've been killed.
There should be programs for looking after rescued animals, not this. The dairy industry is plain cruel.
I hope your rescues do well.
