Short story: I am an avid, passionate debator
Long story: I had a debate on the topic of fur: 'That we should ban the sale of fur.' Which required me to research animals used for fur. Unfortunatley I was on the negative team (that we SHOULDN'T ban the sale of fur) so I missed most of the research, we were researching instead the economical benefits of fur and such, but, being a debate team, it's allways good to anticipate what the opposition will say, so I researched fur farms etc, and came across the peta2 website. From there I read many stories. I couldn't look at pictures or videos, just stories, and I slowly stopped to eat meat. It'd be put on my plate, but I wouldn't touch it, or I'd eat a tiny amount and leave it. I'd ask for egg an bacon rolls without the bacon etc. Then I went to japan (about 2 weeks after begingin my veg journey) and while I was there, I thought it was unfair on the family for me to suddenly tell them I was veg, because I'd just started, didn't want the family to have to buy veg food etc, so for 11 days I was a meat-eater, and when I got back, I was veg. On the plane there and back I tried to eat veg, but they wouldn't provide me with a veg meal (you have to request it when you book the flight, i didn't book the flight and when it was booked i wasn't veg) so i ended up picking out the meat.
Once I got back to australia, I was straight veg. I survived about 2 months on nothing but oriental noodles and roast potatoes/carrots because I didn't know what to eat as a veg, but then slowly developed (somewhat) better eating habbits.
