I first went veg because i thought it was wrong to eat other beings..only after i realised that i found out how bad animals actually had it.. (lol usally people find out how bad animals have it THEN go veg xD)

then i went vegan years later after realising how very cruel and un natural consuming dairy is.

My current boyfriend is vegan, and when we first met we spent 2 weeks discussing and debating the different sides, and then I decided to see it for myself, and I watched Earthlings. I think I knew even before I watched it what my reaction would be, and I'm so glad I did it.

I always wanted to be veg because I grew up near cows, horses, dogs, cats and other wildlife and didnt see how eating cows was ok and eating dogs was not as they are all animals.
since moving out of home I wavered between veg, vegan and mostly veg diets as I wasnt in the best financial position.
Now that I am in a stable environment i can make my own choices about what to eat and aim at a vegan diet but make some allowances since i work in a cafe and have to make coffee with cows milk that I need to know how it tastes for the customers.
I dont think it will be a forever job though

I've always loved animals and was vaguely aware of vegetarianism when I was younger. One day I was on the internet and just decided to google vegetarianism and see what came up and I haven't looked back. The way the animals are treated is just awful and now that I know better I could never eat another live being again.

Once I found out meat was actually animals I was never to fond of eating it. Then the times I did dad would make animal noises since he knew I hated it. So for my own piece of mind and to piss off dad I went vegetarian. Was that for nearly 8 years then found out bout the dairy cows and free range eggs at the start of the year so I went vegan

Short story: I am an avid, passionate debator happy

Long story: I had a debate on the topic of fur: 'That we should ban the sale of fur.' Which required me to research animals used for fur. Unfortunatley I was on the negative team (that we SHOULDN'T ban the sale of fur) so I missed most of the research, we were researching instead the economical benefits of fur and such, but, being a debate team, it's allways good to anticipate what the opposition will say, so I researched fur farms etc, and came across the peta2 website. From there I read many stories. I couldn't look at pictures or videos, just stories, and I slowly stopped to eat meat. It'd be put on my plate, but I wouldn't touch it, or I'd eat a tiny amount and leave it. I'd ask for egg an bacon rolls without the bacon etc. Then I went to japan (about 2 weeks after begingin my veg journey) and while I was there, I thought it was unfair on the family for me to suddenly tell them I was veg, because I'd just started, didn't want the family to have to buy veg food etc, so for 11 days I was a meat-eater, and when I got back, I was veg. On the plane there and back I tried to eat veg, but they wouldn't provide me with a veg meal (you have to request it when you book the flight, i didn't book the flight and when it was booked i wasn't veg) so i ended up picking out the meat.

Once I got back to australia, I was straight veg. I survived about 2 months on nothing but oriental noodles and roast potatoes/carrots because I didn't know what to eat as a veg, but then slowly developed (somewhat) better eating habbits.

Pretty much the same story with me. I think a Simpsons episode or something random made me go onto peta.org and the things I learnt that night changed my world.
