Haha, too funny!

I used to get really defensive but have realised you can't change ppl who don't want to change. And most of the time these ppl make stupid veg comments they just wan't to stir. Now that I don't get defensive they leave me alone. No fun picking on someone who doesn't bite back wink
I'll try that way
Usually these people think they're being quite funny with their remarks. So if you can come up with some witty come backs, then that's another good way to deal with this sort of situation.

You poured your mums cosmetics down the drain? hahaha..........

It's funny how people get abusive about it, they just don't handle it well. Even if you disagree, is it that hard to just put it all aside and keep the peace?
But having said this, as nasty as omnis can be, there are some vegans that are the same. Won't accept your opinion and think they're right and get all nasty because they believe what they think is the be all and end all of everything. Although i do tend to find older vegans express themselves better and find a good balance. But then again i did have a friend who's 40ish and told my omni mate he was going to die of bowl cancer and bleed from the arse hahaha.

Yes I guess with some people, although at my last job it never really got old with some people. Some of them always made little comments. I never commented back because I couldn't be bothered and their comments didn't bother me anyway, I just thought they were immature etc (particularly coming from 50 year olds).

The only time I ever say something is when someone attacks me for it and that has only happened once and I gave that guy a serving for it and put him in his place.

Unfortunately there are a large majority of people out there that don't want to change. I wish vegans would outbreed the omnis /troglodytes  spider

My Light bulb moment came when I was working at the Baiada Chicken Hatchery down here in Victoria as a cleaner.  I thought this job would be a good idea as the hours suited me and I could work around my study.  I lasted 3 days.  Part of my 'Job' was to clean the chick room which is where the little day old chicks get sent through on a conveyor belt for sexing by people who sit on either side of the 'line'.  What I saw was awful and I will never forget it, I went home in tears every day I was there and I still have nightmares about the place.  The first time I cleaned the chick room I was left to deal with 8 pallets of dead, dying and maimed chicks that had got caught in the conveyor belt on the way through and were either bleeding or broken.  They were left for hours and hours in the hot chick room chirping their little hearts out for help.  I say 'help' because every time I had to walk past these pallets the chicks that were still alive jumped up, looked at me and flapped their little wings like they thought I was there to stop the pain.  If this isn't bad enough there were the tiny little corpses of chicks that had been ripped apart by the belt and their body parts flung all over the floor by the 'people' who work on the sexing line.  If I had known more about reporting inhumane farming practices while I was there I would have taken a video on my mobile phone and sent it to the authorities.  Just when I thought it could not get worse I was told that the little chicks in the pallets were to be sent to the 'gas' room where they were to be killed humanely - WHAT A LOAD OF CARP!!  Later that night when taking the garbage out to the industrial bin I could hear the little chicks chirping still and waiting to suffocate to death INSIDE THE BINS!!!
So much for this company saying that they do not participate in animal cruelty!

Others say they were shocked to learn that meat-eating causes more greenhouse gases than all the world's transport combined!
I just have to say, this is such an alarming fact. Everyone should be informed of this, if you ask me.

I ate meat until I watched the documentary 'Earthlings' nearly 6 months ago. From the moment that documentary ended, I stopped eating all forms of animals and their by-products and have been a happy little vegan ever since, and will never look back. happy
