Hi everyone happy

I'm a newbie here- in case that wasn't obvious wink

Basic story- I went vego in grade 9 after seeing a chicken truck drive beside my school bus on the highway on the way to school.

11 years later (ie- I'm 25 now), I'm married, with two children. Happily married to a very-happily-non-vegetarian. I prefer to call myself a strict vegetarian, though I only eat dairy from a family farm about 50km away every few months (and yes, I'm aware of everything associated with dariy- it's been harder than I imagined, with a husband and children!) My only eggs are from my mother-in-law's rescued pet chickens, otherwise, I'm quite happy to sub.

Looking forward to 'talking' to like-minded souls happy

ETA: I don't eat gelatine, rennet, chicken stock, etc.

Haha...Ive made my mother-in-law promise she won't get rid of them once they stop laying wink

But as we only get eggs when they've been laying well, I've become quite good at subbing with apple sauce/cornflour/tofu etc etc. Which I quite like!

But it can get difficult when you feel like the last of the unicorns wink Particularly when you're in charge of feeding children that also belong to a non-veg*n.

Hey there and welcome.

It's fun on here I promise happy
I get eggs from my boyfriends mum's sister. Phew that's a mouth full. But yeah the same deal. Happy backyard hens. I don't have a problem eating them because the hens are happy and they are unfertilised. I'm trying to cut out all dairy though. I'm finding it a bit harder then I expected. But I know I'll get there happy

Welcome! happy
You sound like me, strict vego and mostly vegan. I have my own backyard chickens and they are gorgeous creatures! So I do eggs, but only from them.
I'm pretty good without dairy, I like my soymilk, but my partner isn't veg at all and he loves his cheese so I was hoping that in the future there would be a 'more ethical' source of dairy to buy from for him.
I think any household making an effort is a great thing!! Hope you have some fun here with us ecstatic
