I've been vegetarian for like a year and a half, and i'm pretty sure its made me put on wait. Is that even possible?

Can we edit the spelling in the title sad

But of course it's possible. When you make drastic changes to your diet, your weight is bound to change. Just make sure it's HEALTHY weight and that your diet consists of plenty of fruit, veg, legumes etc and not just all mock meat.

Edited wink

Yes, of course it's possible. There are other factors to weight gain too of course, like, change in the amount of exercise you do. But like Carina said, just make sure you're getting your calories from healthy foods and not just potato chips and soft drinks and you should be good happy

Personally my weight didn't change at all when I became vegetarian and later vegan. I'm the same as I always was, though I generally suffer fewer colds now, which is a nice bonus happy

i think allot of vegetarians put on weight because they replace meat with cheese which i think is allot worse for your health (and the animals).

I put weight when I went vegetarian purely because I knew nothing about nutrition and lived off pasta.

Eat more than your body needs = put on weight. Omni/vegetarian/vegan, doesn't make a difference. Food is fuel happy

Me too... and my addiction to cheese! ashamed

I lost 8kgs when I became vegan only because I started eating healthy. It's easier to maintain my weight now, without even trying. And I haven't been sick once since becoming vegan 4 years ago! happy

When I first went vegan I thought it would be a really healthy change and help me lose weight, which is did but now that I've joined more communities and found out about all the vegan food there is on the market it really doesn't make a difference and I've still got to watch what i eat, god knows I've overindulged in soy ice cream after one too many bad breakups LOL wink

Hope this helps!.
