Does anyone have experience with finicky cats?

Something I can honestly say I've never had to deal with...

So I've got a "situation" at the moment with my cat.

I was feeding my cat Veganpet Dry Cat Food for a long time which was fine. I'd just soak it in water and occasionally sprinkle nutritional yeast on top and he loved it. His urinalysis was always fine (acidic pH and such) and the food is nutritionally complete, has passed feeding trials and meets AAFCO nutritional requirements.

I introduced him to the tinned Veganpet Cat Food recently. This food is meant as a supplement to the dry as it doesn't contain all nutrients required (they can't survive the heating process).
Unfortunately for me my cat LOVES the tinned stuff and is now only eating it. He will eat all around the dry food and lick the wet off of it but will not eat the dry at all.
The only success I've had is by only feeding him once per day instead of twice and he gobbles it all up then. I don't like doing this though as I think it's moderately cruel.

He won't eat any other foods or treats now either, just the tinned stuff.

Does anyone have any suggestions/tips/experience? I've done work with cats before but they've always been happy to eat whatever they were fed.

(It's kind of ironic that my cats addicted to Vegan cat food though... =P)

I just feed my cat whatever she prefers, because I figure she doesn't get much choice, but I don't have the same issue as you sad

If it were me i would get away from the tinned stuff, and just try and make the dry food more exciting by adding new things to it, like even gravy or something!

Good luck!

can you soak the dry food in cold water until it goes mushy then mix it into the wet food?

Oh i know this problem oh toooo well!! lol.

Pro's and cons for wet and dry food.. wet food is better than dry food, as sometimes too much dry food in cats can lead to urine tract infections (ie: crystals).. but on the other hand too much wet and not enough dry food means the cats teeth isnt being cleaned enough (dry food is a great way to keep their teeth clean, which is vital for their overall health)..

Hmm.. i also would have suggested wetting the dry food.. but i guess thats not any help lol.. I have also tried this and the cheeky things just seem to know LOL..

Are there any other vegan dry foods out there? maybe something new with a different flavour?

MINI SHEPHERDS PIE
1 onion (chopped)
3 cloves of garlic (minced)
1 tin of lentils, drained
7 mushrooms roughly diced
1/2 cup of peas
1 carrot (chopped roughly the same size as peas)
1 cup of spinach leaves chopped
1 cup of thickly mixed gravy (I used massels supreme gravy mix)
2 sheets of borgs puff pastry
1 muffin tray (half a dozen slots)
5 potatoes, mashed.

Preheat oven to 200 degrees
fry the onion, garlic, mushroom in a pot, when the onion is caramelised throw in the cup of gravy and add everything else, let cook for about half hour (use more gravy mix if needed, but add more of the mix then recommended to keep it thick)
Grease the muffin tray and cut the pastry sheets into quarters, place them into the muffin tray, fixing up any gaps with the extra pastry. (to make the pie shells)
Throw the muffin tray (with pastry) into the oven for a few minutes until slightly puffed, then pull back out.
put finished 'mince' mix into the pie crusts, and top with the mashed potato
cook in oven for about 45 minutes.

I thought onions were highly toxic for cats?
