I agree, I'm 16, I can't afford to put my cats on vegan diets, does this mean I'm a bad person and I should give them up? I think I'd rather kill myself.
It's more than a matter of cost. I could afford it, and I choose not to, because anatomically speaking, I don't believe my cats will thrive on a vegan diet. They might live, yes, but at what cost to their health?
It's not meant to be insulting coming to this forum I didn't think other vegans still fed animals meat I assumed they would be on or changing into a vegan diet considering all the success and setting up of those companies. I personally see it as turning a blind eye and hate too see more animals dieing for humans to keep pets, it saddens me to see it on this forum since it was unexpected and as insulting as you may find it that's just how I feel about animals, I don't think they should be killed for anything related to humans including pets and I think cats and dogs can be placed on vegan diets but even if they couldn't I would prefer less dogs and cats to be born then the hundreds of animals that have to die for them

In the long run, you're going to have a tough time convincing people who do a lot of good in the area of animal rights and/or welfare that they are being selfish by feeding their pets meat.
Yes, cats and dogs are being over-bred, but that's a different situation entirely. You should be arguing for the abolition of all pet shops, and for programs like TNRs to be put in place instead, rather than villifying people who feed their pets what they anatomically need.
