Hey guys I'm a newbie here, and i find myself browsing through the forums in all my downtime happy I've been a vegetarian for a year now, and try to avoid animal products (soy instead of dairy etc) i would love to go vegan purely for animal welfare, but I'm also interested in the health benefits with being vegan that some of you have spoken about in the forums, or moreso the health risks associated with eating animal products. If you guys could share some info or some personal experiences that would be great! happy

Well, with me, I haven't really lost any weight, I've stayed the same or put on a kilo or so, but mainly because it's school holidays and chips are so tempting. tongue
If you stay away, or only eat vegan junk food in moderation, and exercise, you'll defiently find it a lot more easier to lose weight, in my opinion.
And I just don't feel as bloated or so when I eat anymore.
If you eat correctly, veganism is an amazing choice for someone. ecstatic

I've got more energy, better concentration and an increased awareness of my place in the world. I was a vegetarian who can now see the enormous harm that the dairy industry generates. Go for it.

If you're interested in reading then the China Study is a great reference for vegan health benefits (more accurately the pitfalls of eating meat, but it equates to the same thing anyway).

Becoming Vegetarian and Becoming Vegan by Davis and Melinda are also great books to consult for nutrition and health benefits.
