I agree with you..now I'm 30 and eating well and a lot more aware it would probably be a lot easier to stop eating fish. There my shortfall lies..Meat and poultry never but I'm not in a place in life right now where I'm giving up fish..just trying to get my head around the milk thing!

Well take your time if you want to give fish up. If you rush it you could always go back from stress
I on the other hand had no problem giving it up because since a baby I HATED any seafood. I never actually ate seefood so I didnt miss it
Soy is horrible so I'm going to try them all and see what come up the best
Before you give up on soy completely try vitasoy's soy milky. I didn't like soy milk before i found that.
I second this - soy milky is AMAZING, I used to drink it when I was just a vegetarian, because I liked the taste, and so did one of my girlfriends! (omni)
And one of my lactose intolerant buds drinks it - so there you go!
What other soy products do you eat? I've been a little conscious about over consuming this too, so I try to not eat too many products on one day (just to put my mind at ease).
I eat a mixed variety of beans and lentils an only have the soy products rarely.
I too like the vitasoy milky and hated all the others.
I pretty much don't eat any soy cheese and am happy without it.
There's some really nice soy free ice-cream made out of cocnut milk.
Make the change gradually and if you eat a fair bit of dairy products and are worried about replacing them with soy, just strt cutting back to begin with.
The majority of soy is produced for live stock meaning the amount of soy needed is huge and can led to unsustainable sources just like palm, however most of the "bad" soy is going to go towards livestock because the majority of vegan soy companies seek out sustainable sources.
Soy or tofu Isn't the same as meat, you should focus on a diet around plants and consume all within moderation, the only problem you can have with soy is bring allergic, the rest are rumors and large excess which can be bad given any food.
Soy itself is fine and it's only destructive because of the cheap push in livestock, if the world was vegan then all companies would make sure to source sustainable sources and without livestock the demand of soy would reduce dramatically.
Remember that soy Isn't the only plant that can be sourced unsustainably, the only thing you can do is suggest companies use sustainable sources if they aren't already using it. There is no point boycotting soy when it's mostly produced for life stock and humans only consume a very small amount compared to that.
Even if we all gave up soy the environmental damage would still be the same, it's destructive because of the cheap demand for livestock not the small amount used for human consumption.
