Even if she had made it all up, it's logical.

If you were a farmer, and you farmed rice (to keep it neutral) How would you be able to demand a high price for it if the value put on it was next to nothing?

I don't understand how she's made out farmers to be horrible people by laying that out on the table.

I do not understand what the issue with this is other than to question who the 'some farmers' are. By "less and less likely to invest in animal welfare" does not necessitate in -lowering- welfare. It can mean that -existing- animal welfare practices may stay as they are and not improve.
