Actually you will find very few animals that go to live export are purchased via the Auction system Majority are consigned directly to the exporters through agents

Daniel, I'm interested to know whether viewing our live export investigation video changed your mind about whether you think the live export industry is 'cruel'?

Our investigators have actually been to witness what Australian animal endure in destination countries during peak export seasons. Take a look at the video on this page taken late last year and let us know if it changes your impression of the live export trade...

If you can stomach the whole video you'll also see what happens to dairy cattle that have the unfortunate fate of being exported to these countries.

The Australian live export industry has been knowingly supplying millions of animals to this fate for decades. If this isn't a complete disregard for animal welfare for the love of money I don't know what is.

Daniel5, Being a Veg*n is so much more than a teen rebellion and misinformation.

I personally dont thinking eating meat in general is "wrong", what I think is eating meat in a country that can easily sustain itself on a vegetarian or vegan diet is wrong.

I dont see anything wrong with tribal people who kill a buffalo and use it to feed their tribe for a week, they have no choice and need nutrition as vegetables might not be able to grow in their region. Eg, Africa, South America etc etc.

My problem is in a modern world with ENDLESS amount of veg*n options in a country like Australia, meat and dairy can be cut out of our diet with no ramification to our well being. Why do it if it isn't needed?

Why buy a 3d TV if you already have 2 TV's?
Why buy a spoilt child everything they want even if they dont need it?
Why buy meat and dairy if we dont need it?

Ive been a strict vegetarian (not quite vegan, but I dont consume dairy or eggs) for almost a year now and I am in perfect health, better health in fact as my medical records show.

Dont need it, why buy it. Save yourself the karma and live a happy life.

I mean all forms of globalisation. One form inevitably leads to another. If you're asking why it's bad, there's endless commentaries on the internet.
Oh I'm not asking for an objective appraisal of 'globalisation' (if such a thing is possible), I would be interested to hear your opinion on it.

Old footage edited to push your cause gee was i ment to respond to that

You state that the Live Export has been exporting to these countries for decades with no concern for the animals is this why they have spent MILLIONS of dollars upgrading equipment there and here.

Daniel5, I assume from that response that you think the footage is not acceptable, however the footage in question was shot in NOVEMBER LAST YEAR. Do you think so much has changed since that time?

Regarding equipment upgrades, the industry has had 30 years to get their act together. It was only after Animals Australia brought back footage and aired it on 60 minutes that the live export industry went into damage control and decided to dramatically invest in new equipment/'training'. Yet every single year our investigators bring back hours of footage showing that little has changed and that scared Australian animals are still being routinely brutalised. Despite knowing what's going on, the industry continues to knowingly send animals to situations where they will endure horrendous cruelty that would be illegal in our own country.
