baah! I think that by Default all non animal milks should be vegan... because who do they think is buying the stuff too
The thing about vitamin D forfeiting is it can be derived from animal wool, why do companies choose to derive it from animal wool(D-3)? It's because the only other source is from mushrooms(D-2) which has been proven to be less efficient since the vitamin D our bodies produce from the sun is identical to wool's D-3.
The only vitamin supplements i know of that use vegan D-2 are only available on-line - http://www.uproar.org.au/uproar-shop/. So if someone is worried about not getting enough D from the sun, pick-up those supplements.
PLEASE BE AWARE IF VEGAN - Vitasoy Calci-Plus and Soy Milky Kids contains added Vitamin D. Vitamin D has been added as it has been shown to assist with the absorption of calcium, which is important for overall bone health. We add vitamin D3, which is extracted from the lanolin in the wool of healthy and living sheep in New South Wales and Victoria. Where possible, we always try to source ingredients that are suitable for both vegetarians and vegans to ensure we provide products for our customers that choose to follow such a diet.
