Premarin cruelty?

What do they do to the horses to get the urine out of them? Knowing humans (no, not people like you, cruel and inhumane humans like the others) that they would probably be kept in dark dingy stables, or even sheds, with thing-a-ma-gigys attached to their bladders. And who knows what will happen to the foals. Am I right?

My dad, who will never become a vegan, says "You can't just suddenly hear something and then think that they are going to be kept in horrible conditions" But from seeing all this other animal cruelty, and how people keep animals to save money, its pretty hard to think that horses used for premarin will be in a nice green paddock, with lots of food, light, and water. And plus (I said all this to him) how would they be able to collect the horse's urine anyway? and so my dad says "Ever heard of nappies?" I just think, dad, seriously!

So how are horses used for premarin kept? and does it happen in Australia?

they gernerally use heavy breeds, as they are easy to get pregnet and pee alot more then smaller mares becouse they have larger bladders. the mare is tired into a stall were they cant turn, somtimes not even lay down.  gernerally they have around 1500 - 3000 mares at a time . mares are bought at around the age of 3 and kept ( if they are proven breeders) till they are 15. once they are no longer profitable they are sold off to slaughter. the foal shares  the same fate. they are taken from there mums withing 12-24 hours of birth and put onto a feed lot for horses, they are grown out and fatten up, and sold for meat.

the mare has a device that holds the tail up constently, and this has a bag strapped to it to collect the urine. basically they are breeding machines, having foal after foal ( like dairy cattle) .  they have a miserable life.

^^^ does any1 know if they do it in australia? run PMU farms?

There are alternatives-

1) People need to know about this to ask for alternatives

2) Legislation to stop the practice
