Yeah, For example Anz is the biggest supporter of coal mines and funds basically every coal mine in Australia. I want to change banks from ANZ but I dont know one that will give me better deals and is envionmentally friendly..
Oh I understand now, I didn't even think about things like that. I opened a back account about a month ago when I got my license, I went with MyState because I don't like the big banks. I should have done my homework!

Wow i didnt think so far as to banking, and its opened my eyes about ANZ and the coal industry .
I dont bank with ANZ thank goodness but now i question who i'm banking with, im interested to see what research people come up with in this topic, as im having difficulty finding info myself.
Westpac has signed the Equator Principles - http://www.equator-principles.com/ which means they have agreed not to fund any major project that impacts negatively on the environment or communities.
In my personal experience however, westpac has the absolute worst customer service. When my credit card with them had fraudulent transactions, they froze all my accounts and a series of stuff-ups meant I couldn't access any of my own money for three weeks, and westppac could not have cared less if I starved to death in that time. The only reason I could access my money in the end was because I opened an account with another bank and got my job to deposit my next pay into that.
