Hmmm, is it true that only 'reject' flat-race horses are used for jumps racing? If it is, that's really, really interesting.

I'm all for an end to animal exploitation -- from flesh to milk to testing to entertainment -- but if it is true that only 'reject' horses are used -- therefore no horses are actually bred especially for jumps racing -- is it right to protest only against jumps racing? I mean, are we doing the right thing if the horses that would become jumps racing horses are, without jumps racing, going to be sent to the slaughterhouse?

Can someone clear this up for me?
Anyone?   lookatme

So can we be safe to say that no horses are specially bred for jumps racing? But rather that just the rejected, slower, cheaper horses bred for flat-racing are used -- who without jumps racing would be destined for the slaughter house?

If so, why are we trying to ban jumps racing?  confused

We shouldn't jump down everyone’s throat for being for something we're not. We live in a democracy. Everyone’s entitled to their own opinion - even the person who made this video. I think the comments commented onto this particular video are pretty childish. I don't think it’s right to call anyone a "fat whore."
Ideally perhaps. But it certainly ain't the case in relaity.

Think about people like Pauline Hanson for example, getting up in parliament inciting racial hatred within Australia - and it wasn't just her, people actually held these 'opinions'!

The point is that yes, everyone is entitled to an opinion, but an opinion ought to be thought out, reasoned and carefully considered. We're not talking about a blue coiuch being better than a white one here...we are talking about issues that have enormous consequences for others.

As far as I'm concerned I would have no problem with gaggigng her, or Pauline Hanson, or Hitler for that matter.

Gagging as in censoring?

I think censorship can be a very dangerous thing.

Well what about all the reject jump racing horses? im sure theres heaps of them aswell??

i know some of the luckier ex racer are sold and re-homed. my friend bought an off-the-track thoroughbred. he had 2 starts and his racing career was over after that. Now he's retrained; and is a happy regualr horse. happy

i think there should be a law so that every of the track horse to be re-homed. Youd think like th RSPCA would be more involved in this??

From what I can gather no horses are bred for jumps racing. Instead, like I said, rejected flat-race horses are used and trained to be jumps racing horses. Therefore, the rjected flat-race horses are given a second chance at life through jumps racing. Without jumps racing, these horses would be sent to be slaughterd for pet food.

With jumps racing: rejected horses are given a second chance at life - they aren't sent to be slaughtered.

Without jumps racing: rejected horses are sent immediatly to slaughter.

It's for this reason that I ask, why are we trying to ban jumps racing?!

an extended life, still a life of torture and cruelty..isnt the best either. after jumps racing, id be happy to get started on banning horse racing too. I think its horrible.

So if jumps racing is indeed extending the life of many horses, isn't it logical to ban all horse racing first. If we don't, many, many, many more horses will be condemned to the slaughter house (all the horses that don't die on the jumps racing course).

From what I gather, by banning jumps racing first we kill more horses than we save. This is very stange.

Of course censorship can be a dangerous thing, but so can allowing people with explicitly violent intetions to take positions of power and express themselves in the media.

Hitlet again is an example, though there are millions of others.

You got me wrong, okay im talking about the thoroughbeds that are rejected from flat racing, so then they are bought cheap for jump racing. Not all horses have the natural ability to jump like others do. So what happens to the horses that are rejected from flat and jump racing?? most likey killed anyway.

the end up with the same fate

and im gueesing that jump racers that excell in that sport, go straight to stud when there careers are over, to breed better foals and to continue on in that sport.

im not trying to ban anything, i just think that jump racing is cruel like most people do.
