I read on the rules that, ' Unleashed exists to engage, inspire and support young people to make cruelty free choices, and help animals.' Is there any reason that this is for young people? Plenty of older people like me need to be engaged, inspired and supported to make cruelty free choices. I have been vegetarian for 25 years and was not vegetarian for a bit longer. I try to be vegan, but find this difficult at times and feel that in some situations it is wrong. For example, my local organic shop gives me close to out of date or just out of date milk, which it cannot sell. If I didn't take it, it would be poured down the drain. I make cheese and ice cream from it and think that this is much better than wasting it. What do others think?
I still have questions and can provide some views and answers and would like to join in this site, but think the parameters defining members should be broadened .
Unleashed, as a website, is for young people because in my understanding young people are the future, so if they're against animal cruelty now, then there may be a significant change in the future when it comes to animal cruelty. If that makes sense?
Unleashed, as a forum, however, does seem to welcome everyone. There are many older members here, and there are even a few international members.
Unleashed is a website under Animals Australia to try and get the youth involved. I think its a great idea seeing as we're coming up to vote and should think about these issues.
You can also go onto Animals Australia's own website if you don't find it comforting here, but my mum even checks Unleashed every now and then haha. It was just a customer market they wanted to reach and they did Doesn't mean you're not allowed here if you're older.
You'll also find Unleashed stalls at music festivals and other venues were the majority of young will go, otherwise there is an Animals Australia stall usually They're the same place, its just a gimmic not a rule.
Welcome bron!! I think others have already said it well. Unleashed is the youth outreach division of Animals Australia, and while it aims to target a particular group of people, it is in no way 'exclusive' and everyone is welcome here. Some of our most valued online contributors probably fall outside the official target age bracket, which is absolutely fine.
Perhaps we should have said, young, and young at heart?
Hi Bron, welcome to the site! Age doesn't matter here!
In regards to using nearly dated products... personally I wouldn't consume it as I haven't in 5 years and don't miss it one bit, and simply just makes me crook. I'd more likely pass it onto an omni friend/fam member. But I think it's fantastic if you do as otherwise it'll just be thrown out. Generally, we are a very wasteful nation
