hey mate before you have a go at me why dont you read all the post particulary number 40 where somebody does allege that it was deliberate.

and in regard to the smarta*se parents comment refer the same post

Isnt it funny when somebody who is badmouthing the shooter without proof or has a go at his parents nobody says a word but when somebody points out this you all jump up and down.

Daniel5, you can say whatever you wish about the shooting being a certain person's fault, go ahead, do that all you wish, but it'll be a waste your time, because nothing you say is going to change my or others opinion on the fact that duck shooting is cruel and wrong. If people weren't going out and shooting ducks, none of this would have ever happened.

I really hope the votes for "yes" on the poll go up, it's shocking to see how many people support the slaughter of innocent ducks.

Please let's keep the discussion civil, free from name-calling, and on-topic. If I have to edit comments or threaten anyone with a ban I will become cranky Karen. And nobody likes cranky Karen.

This goes for everybody, particularly those people old enough to know better, thanks!

You mean -some- of us jump up and down. And possibly sideways.

Im not a duck shooter.

I personally dont like the taste (which is completly different to farmed duck).

Everything i shoot i eat I dont agree with shooting something just for the sake of it.
If people want to do this then there are avenues they can take like clay target or small bore.

I think we strike a chord here Daniel. You tend to agree that killing animals for the sheer 'enjoyment' is somewhat wrong. That is good to hear!

Why then the distinction between this and killing for the purpose of eating?

When it comes down to it, we mostly eat animals because we enjoy the taste. These days we certainly don't need meat to be healthy and strong (www.unleashed.org.au/who_cares/billy-simmonds-mr-universe.php), so when it comes down to it it's all about enjoyment in some sense.

In your opinion, why should enjoyment gained from tasting a dead animal be any more morally excusable than the sake of enjoyment gained from merely watching an animal die?

I agree that cockatiel's earlier post was quite vitriolic and speculative, and perhaps someone else here should have challenged his claim that the shooter's hole-in-the-bum parents were somehow responsible for his actions. If I was on earlier, I probably would have commented on this. I know what you mean however, and I'd like to make sure that -all- views (ie, not just the non-vego's) on this issue be scrutinized.

Do you agree with any of the other varied comments made here?
