They preferred CLAY instead of medicines.. WTF.

Even if you are raising a child vegan, if it is CLOSE TO DEATH you do something more than just put clay on its skin.. Its called being a loving caring good parent!

Stupid stupid people..

She probably lived on cabbage and carrot herself, not giving her milk enough nutrients.

Apologies, the subtitle of this thread should say ELEVEN month old baby, not nine...

...which makes it worse. Feeding your child ONLY breast milk up until the age of eleven months is appalling and well, wtf-worthy. It's generally advised to introduce solids into the diet along with breastmilk from 6 months onwards, and most babies around that time will indicate that they want more than just bmilk.

I don't know what the hell these parents were thinking in feeding their baby only bmilk. I think that was more a case of idiocy than anything else (as said earlier, why didn't they feed the poor child fruits or veggies!?)

If the mother and father weren't so bats**t crazy they'd have take better care of their child by paying attention to their nutritional intake.

I also stumbled upon this. Let me know what you think:

(cases like these which gives a bad rep. My daughter is nine months and is in the 90 and 97th percentile in weight and height. i.e. she's bigger than most babies here age. Healthy as can be and her developmental milestones are right on cue. Point is that we are careful and informed about what we are doing)

Yeah, that's a bit poor that they made sure to "label" these parents as being vegan, as if that was the cause of the child's death. That's just blatant neglect what happened, and it's a shame that one small advert like that, will cause a hec of a lot more prejudice against vegan parents.... the media suck.

Terrible and tragic.  Rest in peace, little one.

News is so depressing and discriminating.
If omnivore parents did the same thing, feeding the baby only breast milk, I'm sure the news would not mention "meat eating parents charged with neglect".
It just seems to me that the news writers like to stir trouble.
Murder happens often and there's not much detail said on the news about the murderer, unless they happen to be a goth, emo or gamer. (Because you know, anybody that wears different clothes and/or plays video games is evil and blood thirsty) Yeah... right.
Why do they feel the need to point out the persons lifestyle?!
This just pushes a button for me because some of my stupid family members linked my problems with being a vego. "going veg has made you crazy" What?! Seriously?! I've only been veg for 8 months. I've been crazy for 14 years!

Rant over. Sorry about that.
I think they had to point it out because unfortunatley- we are the minority.

Actually, I should clarify that as of the past few weeks, our baby is no longer vegan... she has organic yogurt from time to time. I'll speak more about this in my blog.

Would they do the same for African American parents? Would they say 'parents' or 'African American' parents neglected their child....no? Why not? Because it's offensive? NEVER!
