Try the "change the world" and "the animals" links on this site. Watch "the best speech you will ever here" (there is currently a link in the forum) and "earthlings" (google). Those should get you started.

What do you mean, why does it matter? Because i'd like to know what's going on in my own back yard. I just thought this might be a good place to ask- don't need to be rude.

There are limited resources for Australia, lots of people refer to Earthlings, but lots, well most of the stuff on their is not happening in Australia. We have some pretty high standards. Our main industries which would be cruel apart from the obvious are - Bobby Calves, The Wool Industry and Puppy Farms to an extent.

Most of our meats are becoming free-range, same with eggs etc. I've talked to a few people who work in slaughter houses and he was saying from what he has seen, watching Earthlings and Meet your Meat, Australia has some of the best standards, when killing.

Fish is another one, since we are surrounded by water we obviously have a lot of fishing, and overfishing etc.

But overall, Australia is a lot better to other developed countries, we still have cruelty, but way less than 90% of other countries.

*prepares for shit fest*

I've grown up in a country area surrounded by local farmers and such. We aren't any better. As a relatively "new" country we ought to be leading the way against animal cruelty but the sad truth is we are actually worse than some.
