So how far does this go? Vegans and vegetarians can still buy clothes made in sweat shops, hit people with their cars, eat at KFC, join the army, support war and genocide, etc. Would one have to fill out some sort of a questionnaire in order to be considered worthy enough to be saved?
As far as a vegan on their high horse wants it to go... So probably pretty far.
there is no need for insutls, you are personally offended because you believe human suffering is greater than that of animals suffering. that does not make it wrong for me to believe otherwise. I buy all vegan clothes and avoid sweat shop clothes if i can, i dont hit people with cars(thats an odd one) i dont eat KFC, or believe in war or genocide. I support none of those things. How are they relevant. Oddly whenever I come to a conversatoin about debating the ins and outs of animals suffering people feel the need to question my ethics on entirely different subjects, such as you drive a car, you walk on ants without knowing it etc etc, its mute. I just dont think i should support meat eaters. I cringe at the fact that you cant see past human suffering, that supposed animal lovers accept a level of animal suffering because they see animals as less entitled than humans.

I respect people's right to choose not to donate their organs, but I can't possibly comprehend why they wouldn't.
Well, even before going veg I was unsure of being an organ donor or not because of my beliefs.
I'm not religious - I consider myself a spiritual atheist. I believe in evolution, souls, spirits and reincarnation - and that cutting a body to pieces can cause the soul to be restless or lost.

Maybe it sounds crazy to others, but that's my beliefs.
happy
I don't believe in souls and such but if I did I would imagine them to be separate from the body anyway? The organs are going to leave the body in any case, and rot away into the ground..
Like I said, it may sound crazy to others. I just think the body should remain together. Whether in the ground or as ashes.
Have you heard of Wicca? Its the belief I follow. Some Wiccans believe we should remain in tact and be buried so that our whole being goes back to the Earth and brings new life into the ground- kind of like the Circle of Life haha. I spoke to one who believes like you do, she believes if our whole being goes back into the Earth, our spirit, soul and body replenishes life. Its not as crazy as you may think, its a very popular belief.
I've heard of Wicca, but never looked into the details. It sounds interesting. I'll look into it. Thank you.
happy

Hmmm, I seemed to have missed the memo where anyone has actually said that.

Btw, I'm really cringing at the thought of guests to this forum reading the title of this thread alone, it would be enough to turn me away if I was just visiting for the first time.
Very good point. Unfortunately, ethical debate and outreach to newbies doesn't always go hand in hand. I've changed the title to not put off first timers skimming the thread titles.
aww, censorhip happy can i ask moderator, how is the tone of this debate from an outsiders perspective?

I also fail to see where anyone has said that either. No one has. We're all just saying that we will be donating our organs, but that makes us a 'supposed' animal lover, who think animals are 'less entitled than humans.'? Sure, mate.

If I can't see past human suffering why am I vegan? I just believe it's wrong to let people die because they don't live the same lifestyle as you do. Also that people should be given a chance to change.

its just inferred, you're saying that you accept that its ok to give your organs to someone who will continue to eat meat because as someone listed, if they die the family will suffer, financially, emotionally etc. the animals also suffer. but none the less you give the persons suffering preference over the animals. Its just inferred from what you've said

i also addressed the chance to change thing, above, the urgency of my action is for animals now, not waiting for humans later. too many are dying right now! i cant wait, the animals in the pens cant wait, the animals that are being bred cant wait. just like i said i cant hope some rapist, or paedophile will change, murdering animals is the same as those crimes to me and i'll support neither
