Paul, say you could stop someone being murdered right in front of you, but this person ate a lot of meat, would you?

If you saw a man choking on a sausage sandwich, would you try to resuscitate him or would you just leave him?

Btw, I'm really cringing at the thought of guests to this forum reading the title of this thread alone, it would be enough to turn me away if I was just visiting for the first time.
Very good point. Unfortunately, ethical debate and outreach to newbies doesn't always go hand in hand. I've changed the title to not put off first timers skimming the thread titles.
aww, censorhip happy can i ask moderator, how is the tone of this debate from an outsiders perspective?
Jesse did comment and he changed the subject name.

seeing as everyone has been talking about religion, I will give my answered based on my beliefs. I believe strongly in karma and from my teachings on karma we all pay for all of the results for all of our actions. If i was to stop someone murdering another there is a level of karma attained, i am also responsible for the pain that person causes from that time on. It is just the natural result of my actions, so step gently, there is no escaping the results of our actions. My initial response would be to stop the assault, violence is abhorent to me

I think the world is overpopulated to begin with - so No I don't think I want to donate my organs.
When your time's up your times up why is everyone so caught up on extending their life so much do you really want to get so old you can't wipe your own ass???

I've also heard that if you are in a car accident and they discover you are an organ donor they are more concerned with getting your organs out than saving your life (because time is precious when it comes to organ transplants). Not sure how much truth is in this though...

But if I did donate my organs I wouldn't care if they went to a meat eater.. I love lots of meat eaters most of my friends/family are... happy

It's a hard one because I'm sure if I needed a transplant I'd feel differently....

There are a lot of young, sick children who require organ donations who deserve a chance at life though.

Everyone deserves a chance at life.

I don't think a child can take an adult organ though can they?

So dogs on death row, they don't deserve a second chance as their time is up?

Oh gosh I love people putting words in my mouth! thanks!
Of course I don't think death row dogs don't deserve to live, they are usually healthy animals, I'm talking about people who are terminally ill.. Big difference between that and putting someone to death who sleeps on park benches...

I think everyone deserves to live and if they are given a second chance that is fantastic, I guess I more had in mind older people with terminal illnesses, I know alot of older people and their quality of life is zilch, still doctors try to extend their lives... quality not quantity!

I think i'd feel differently if I knew who my organs were going to... I'd hate for them to go to a nasty natured person that only needed the transplant because they hadn't looked after it in the first place.
