Go and see A Day in Pompeii.  It's currently on at the Melbourne Museum and it is awesome!

Melbourne has so much to see and do that it really just depends what you're into - and what's on at the time, and where you're staying.  You can join a tai chi group in the Alexander Gardens, so and feast down laneways (I suggest a little take-away bar in Degraves St between Flinders St. and Flinders Lane called TOFOI, or something like that - heaps of yum vegan cakes and pies, and all organic!)  There is art and sport and music and dancing!

Check out what's on at the Prince, Corner Hotel or Hi-Fi Bar if you like some cool local live music.

If you're into it (and old enough) there are some super-amazing bars and cocktail lounges all around Melbourne.  If you like gin (like me!) then Gin Palace is the must stop bar.

Oh yeah... ETA: http://earthvegan.blogspot.com/2008/10/vegan-doughnuts.html

Melbourne shuffle: Theres a reason it's called that happy

If I was 18 I'd be going to clubs, Melbourne has (apparently) the best rave scene in australia and is home to the melbourne shuffle (of course) which is a rave dance. We have a very unique dance scene down here which is pretty freaking amazing. happy Music that you can only find in europe and other cool stuff happy

There is loads of places to see and go to, but be warned, melbourne is also the 'city of weather' Be sure to take a rain coat and shorts on the same day, because we go through all four seasons in the period of 2 hours happy very fun.

Luna park isn't that great. It's small and..... small I guess you could say (yes, 2x as small as normal luna park) lol. It's also extreemly expensive.

You're from nsw, so i reccomend fitting in a tram trip somewhere along the way happy I didn't get to go on your cool double decker trains *annoyed*

Uhhmmm... Philip island is pretty good. Make sure to go to a maze n' things. (awesomly cool amazing things there :p My favourite is the ames room) Penguin parade is alright, bit boring after the first half an hour, but worth it to go see during autumn or spring (summer = mosquitoes. Winter = rain)

Oh, make sure you come down on a weekend when we're doing leafletting, it would be very cool to have more people happy

If your into art make sure that you go down to the Salvador Dali exhibition at the Arts centre! It ends mid-October and is one of their biggest, most expensive exhibitions, including over 500 pieces from Dali!

If you dunno who he is, hes this really, really, really, quite truly amazing surrealist painter (and a bit of a psychopath).

Theres also always something going on at Federation Square. But I recommend that you take lots and lots of time to "explore" all the cute little hidden areas! If you want, take one of the 'Melbourne's hidden secrets' tour... although this wont show you nearly as much stuff as there actually is.

And make sure you eat lots of food!!!

Hmmmm, well I dont know if its been said yet, but you MUST go to the East Brunswick Club (I htink its on Lygon street ... google it happy ) They do vegan parma, fish and chips, and all the dessert is vegan including ... cheesecake!!! Yay! And if you're up for a few drinks head down to St Kilda to the Espy, BEST PUB OF ALL TIME. Oh, how I miss the Espy! They have excellent live music and a great vibe, right on the beach too wink
