A toddler wandered off from her family over a sand dune and into scrub and got attacked by a pair of wild dingos..... so they are putting down the dingo.
Why are they putting down the dingos.. for being dingos? People don't understand that Fraser Island is a sanctuary for the last remaining pure dingos in existence, that they are wild and it's no different to camping in an area frequented by bears!
Killing a dingo won't do anything! even domesticated dogs attack people
people have been killed by dingos there before, I think the girl was out of their sight only for a few seconds... but I wouldn't be taking small children to a place like that
Personally I think that Fraser Island should be closed off from tourists. People are quite stupid creatures really and love to feed wild animals, causing the problem themselves and then blame it on the animal. Closing it off is the adult equivalent to punishing a naughty child, if you can't play responsibly you'll be separated.
^ I agree. I think only people who have been previously living there and have experience with dingos should be allowed to stay. It seems that every dingo attack is on a tourist visiting the island, and usually a younger child. You think people would learn by now? But no the poor dingos have to continue to suffer because of some peoples stupidity.
Thats really stupid. So, if you wander off into the bush in Africa and get attacked by a Lion, are you going to put the lion down?
If you wander off and step on a snake and get bitten, are you going to put the snake down?
Its entirely the parents fault, and now because of them, their daughter is in hospital, and two lives are going to be killed.
Unfortunately that is human mentality, it's the same with shark and crocodile attacks, if it's fatal humans decide they need to go on a man hunt and kill the beast responsible, if only they thought the same way about their fellow man, the world might actually be a better place.
I was fuming when I heared the news report and the report said they killed the dingoes.
I mean really? They are some of the ONLY purebred dingoes alive and still wild and they decide that just because they are following their instincts they should be killed... Hopefully those stupid, irresponsible parents have learnt their lesson...
