I wouldn't be surprised. They're a disgusting zoo, I couldn't believe how small the tiger enclosure was when I went, and that was 4 years ago.
And their dyed hens, pig races, mini pony races... They're just horrible. I have heard about the horse thing, I have doubts, but if it's proven true I won't be surprised.
Its illegal to use live prey to feed animals so I really doubt it.
If they do then their licensed can be revoked and they can be shut down. But I really doubt its true because they would've been reported by now.
This statement is ridiculously untrue. This does not happen at zoodoo with horses or any other animals!!! Gossip-mongerers are constantly making up absurd allegations in an attempt to try to pervert peoples minds.
If zoodoo really are doing anything wrong then by all means let the people know about it but the nonsense that continues to get published is purely slander. If you would like to know the facts then instead of playing chinese-whispers just give zoodoo a call on (03)62602444 and ask for Trevor.
Zoodoo constantly have onsite meetings with esteemed animal activists, they take on board what is said, make compromises and put suggestions into action. If you want to do something productive about a situation that you think is not right then this is the only mature and productive way about it!
Think for yourselves... do you honestly think that Zoodoo would put live horses in their carnivore exhibits??? small minds, all gossip and no facts.
Oh god, if this is the same place I visited in year 10 it's absolutely horrible. They made the miniature ponies race around this tiny track while they blare airhorns and deafening music & the ponies were visibly stressed out, it was horrible. The monkey's cages were tiny as well. I hope they've changed since then.
If zoodoo really are doing anything wrong then by all means let the people know about it but the nonsense that continues to get published is purely slander.
I know someone who complained to ZooDoo about the disgusting conditions of their animals so much that they banned him from ever going back. ZooDoo don't care about what people think, they don't care about the animals, as long as the money keeps rolling in. A few friends of mine went there and found animals that were so sick that they should have been euthanised. If you ever want to learn about stereotypic behaviour in animals, ZooDoo is the place to go.
ZooDoo is a miserable hell for animals, I can't believe someone is actually defending them.
Like I said, it's all Chinese whispers. If you want an educated opinion then call the manager and get the real facts. No one has ever been banned from going their, let alone for having genuine concerns. Don't believe me? Call the manager, let him know your concerns, ask him if you could address the issue in person with him and then you can see for yourself as lots of other activists have in the past, in fact some return to meet with the manager on a regular basis to consult with him to achieve their desires.
Do you want to do something productive to improve what you think is wrong in the world? Or would you prefer to just have a public gripe so that you can say you have done something. Whilst I dont think zoos are ideal either, zoodoo does take the care of their animals very seriously. Very few people in Tasmania would look after their animals as well as zoodoo do.
Go and find out for yourself so that you can move onto improving conditions for animals that are genuinely and disgustingly mistreated.
