Hi Lisa,
I'm very sorry to hear about River going missing. Here are my tips:
* Petsearch is a service for people who have lost a pet. They have a website where you can list River as missing. They also have various other services available. The costs start from $10 for a basic service. The website is
www.petsearch.com.au
*Try calling radio stations. Even if they won't do an on-air announcement, many radio stations have a "community switch", and will take your details and a description of your cat. If anyone calls to say they've found a cat, they will put you in contact.
* I would recommend that you keep calling the pound, or better yet, keep going in person to see if River is there. Often record keeping and communication in pounds is not very good, so it pays to go and see for yourself if he is there.
*Call local councils to see if a ranger has picked River up.
* When my cat went missing, I called the Council and asked if any dead cats had been picked up from the road. Although this was a horrible thought, I would rather know if something happened to him than always be wondering what happened. Thankfully my cat was just stuck in a neighbour's garage for a few days - I heard him meowing and got him out! I hope River is OK, too.
All the best,
Kathleen.
