Hi Lisa,

I'm very sorry to hear about River going missing. Here are my tips:

* Petsearch is a service for people who have lost a pet. They have a website where you can list River as missing. They also have various other services available. The costs start from $10 for a basic service. The website is www.petsearch.com.au

*Try calling radio stations. Even if they won't do an on-air announcement, many radio stations have a "community switch", and will take your details and a description of your cat. If anyone calls to say they've found a cat, they will put you in contact.

* I would recommend that you keep calling the pound, or better yet, keep going in person to see if River is there. Often record keeping and communication in pounds is not very good, so it pays to go and see for yourself if he is there.

*Call local councils to see if a ranger has picked River up.

* When my cat went missing, I called the Council and asked if any dead cats had been picked up from the road. Although this was a horrible thought, I would rather know if something happened to him than always be wondering what happened. Thankfully my cat was just stuck in a neighbour's garage for a few days - I heard him meowing and got him out! I hope River is OK, too.

All the best,
Kathleen.

I forgot to mention, you can also place a notice in the Classified of your local paper, and check the papers daily for found animals.

It's also a good idea to go outside, maybe walk around the neighbourhood with the cat's favourite food, calling his name. He may have been spooked by something and could be hiding under someone's verandah, in their garage, etc.

Here's a webpage with lots of good tips:

I have this kitten who i have brought around $100 worth of cat toys, so what does she choose to play with and carry around everywhere she goes??

A bread tie.

next time i will just spend $5.00 on a box of bread ties and save myself $95.00

cats are odd.

Please I am at my wits end now, it has been 11 days today since I last seen River. He is one year old, desexed and microchipped.
I have done everything humanly possible to try to find him with no luck.
He would get back to me if he was able to because River and I saw each other as biological Mother and Son. He would NEVER leave my sight.
I am as distraught as a Mother would be who has a child go missing.
I have to fight my wanting to not live without my boy.
Please if anyone can suggest anything else I can do to get my Son back, I will do anything! I have even offered a months worth of my pension for his return. I would raise the amount to anything I have.

River Mummy misses you and Im scared you might be hurt, please come home or if you have passed over, please come to Mummy in my dream while I sleep. xxx
omg thats soo horrible. you seem so close to the cat. wait! which state and area is this in? oh and check the pound, he may be there. dont give up trying to find him!
