How ARE the majority of cattle raised, farmed and slaughtered in Australia? Come to think of it, usually the pro veg information I read about slaughterhouses and poor conditions in Australia are to do with chickens, dairy cows and pigs.
Edit: nevermind, just read up on the animals section on Unleashed. I asked though as everyone is coming out (incl. animal activists) saying there are laws in place and that cows here are slaughtered humanely
One of the main reasons that they don't want to ban live exports all together is because they are worried about how it will affect Australia's meat industry economically. Though the longer they prolong banning it, the more publicity this topic is receiving in the media, which is turning some Australians off eating beef, and some are even turning vegetarian/vegan.
Ironic?
I feel no sympathy for the meat industry of Australia. And I really do hope this campaign makes a difference, not just for the animals being exported overseas, but also to the number of animals which are killed and slaughtered within Australia.
God people are annoying
Cows are the least abused animal in australia. One cow can produce allot of meat meaning less animals are killed. They also live the closest to a natural life of any farmed animal.
If people want to stop eating just one thing to help animals, it should be eggs. Or if they want to help cows stop drinking milk
I know people mean well but most likely they will just buy other animal products resulting in an increase in animal abuse.
I guess anyone who looks into things a bit more will find out that other animals have it just as bad.

Maybe people should right into the network to request a research and report done on the other animals too while theyre at it.
