People are so frustrating. We're naive? Im pretty sure they're naive. Everyones in it for the money. A farmer can just get another job. People in the industry, if it really get's bad.. CAN FIND OTHER JOBS. It's not that big of a deal. Companies fail all the time, companies crash, go broke, bankrupt, go out of business.. And people seem to get on their feet.. By FINDING NEW JOBS.. People just never thought the meat industry would be hit.. It's just like any other company, it can go under- they need to stop their f**king whinging. If i worked at an office and the company went bust, id just have to find another job- i wouldnt be making stupid facebook groups and wining about it. They need to actually worry about the important things instead of wining to vegetarians, rofl.

One extreme to another this is why you have arguments.  Animal libos cant have middle ground its your right or im wrong.  No facts or stats will suffice all you want is for a vego world and if people lose there livelhoods in the process then who cares.
See now I find it interesting that you start this paragraph by attacking someone for bringing up a valid point, which you think is extreme. Then you end your paragraph with your own extremes.

You have a (somewhat) valid point - what happens to the farmers? Well, no they probably don't deserve to lose everything they have (if indeed they will as you suggest) despite the fact they actively participate in a process that takes from animals everything. Is the answer to turn away and undo all the good that has so far happened? I don't think so. Highly counter-productive and would just confirm everyone's worst fears that Australia would sell itself out for cash. The Government should be working with, and helping, these farmers to find an alternative means to make money (not through animal cruelty, directly or indirectly).

I find it highly insulting, as should any member of the human race, that someone would suggest that there are only two options - all or nothing (and as you've so rightly pointed out, we shouldn't stick only to extremes). Surely we are much more creative and innovative than that?
I mean - that IS what sets us apart from animals isn't it?

nesia will still be able to source cattle from its own herd or import live cattle from countries like Argentina
- The cattle will still be slaughted inhumanly it just wont be Australian cattle.
- The only people affected will be Australian Farmers

[/quote/]

i read a news paper report today that indonesia only wants australian cattle and ozzie cattle are the only cattle in the world that are foot n mouth free. and they dont want to introduce the disease or run a risk of it been introduced.

this could also lift indonesia's game, they might be more aware of animal welfare

the cattle farmers new all along that this was happening, and they still continue to send cattle there, they never did anything to fix the problem befor so why should we feel bad for them?

Oh no the poor assassins! We should allow assassination again, because imagine how much a hard time assassins have had financially.

My gripe with the suspension is it is only in relation to cattle export, and only to 3 abbotoirs in Indonesia. Other animals are still being exported.

I don't care what anyone says about it "not being ones reponsibility once it changes hands"
most companys have a warranty, if your product breaks when you've bought it through a shop, you can still get it repaired by the manufacturer of the product with proof of purchase.

Farmers know what those animals are going to endure, but it's out of sight out of mind.
Sure, it's unrealistic to think the world is going to go vegan, but we can do our best to try and raise awareness and improve the living arrangements for this animals as well.

This argument is so arbitrary. "If you don't eat the meat someone else will, the animals are going to die anyway" - heard this before? hell, I have a million times.

Someone has to make some kind of start on the issue, no matter how small it seems, people are realising there is an issue, and that's all we need to start things moving.

If every single cattle farmer is only sending meat to indonesia, and has no other consumers, there really is an issue.

Ha. If these people were trafficking slaves or making money from raping people, would you care about how it financially affected them?

How is this any different? Suffering is suffering. It's wrong, and finances are comparatively unimportant. I don't want to see farmers on the street or in debt, but they can always find an alternative career pathway.
