I just heard that the live export ban has been lifted?!!

Edit: Not sure if this is the right place to post this, but I figured it's better than making another live export thread.

You're right, and here's one article:

http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2011/07/06/3262895.htm

"Mr Ludwig says there will be strict conditions on new export permits.

Mr Ludwig says a "supply chain assurance regulatory model" has been put in place to allow trading to resume.

"It enables those specific companies [and] individuals seeking to export live animals to indonesia to apply for the permit, meet the regulatory framework that's in place and then they will receive the permit and the trade can resume at that point," he said.

He says the supply chain will mean that each abattoir in Indonesia will be independently audited and will have to meet certain standards."

We couldn't trust them before, and we'd be fools to trust them now.

That sucks!  angry
I can't put how I feel right now into any other words, so "that sucks" will have to do for a while.

Jo Ludwig has just announced that he's lifting the ban of live export to Indonesia. He says only to abbatoirs whose chain can be followed from point A to the final destination. This was a suspension that was supposed to last 6 months, and hopefully completely banned. How can a trade that has spanned decades, and has been hidden from public awareness,be fixed in little over a month? I seriously doubt we'll be able to trust that horrendous cruelties won't be hidden again.

I almost cannot believe they have decided to lift the ban. I'm absolutely disgusted.
Don't know whether to punch something, or cry my eyes out... feeling so emotional.

So many people united for this cause. We raised our voices for these innocent lives. How can we just be ignored? Where is the damn justice?
This is wrong...
