Swisse Ultiboost Hair Skin Nails -
http://www.productreview.com.au/p/swisse-ultiboost-hair-skin-nails.html
"I  started taking this supplement because I post-pregnancy I found my hair wouldn't grow. I called the number on the back of the bottle and spoke with a naturopath who assured me it was safe to take while breastfeeding. A few months into taking it daily I came across this website and read the reviews.

"Liquid contains sodium benzoate and ascorbic acid (vitamin C). Sodium benzoate might be acceptable on its own, but when it is mixed with ascorbic acid, it can create benzene, a potent carcinogen, which increases the risk of cancer and other diseases."

Once again I called the Swisse natropath and she couldn't deny that this was true. I am furious that they are allowed to sell these dangerous products, and I urge anyone taking the liquid supplement to stop."

Unless you have a medical problem, a healthy diet is just as good.

Just for the record, this reply to my question if Swisse test on animals,
"We would like to confirm for you that we do not test any of our finished products on animals. Further to this we also do not use any materials that are tested on animals as part of the continued efficacy or quality control process. Quality and efficacy of materials and products are determined by chemical and physical testing alone.

All materials used to make therapeutic products globally are evaluated and approved by the local regulatory authority. In Australia this is the TGA (Therapeutic Goods Administration). At the time that the materials were evaluated to determine their safe use in humans, it is possible that animal data may have been evaluated. This data would have been generated at the point in time when the ingredients were newly developed, often decades prior, and never by Swisse.

Swisse has never condoned nor facilitated the practice of animal testing on existing products or materials.
