How many animals does there have to be left in a species for them to be classed as endangered? Surely if there is only a few thousand left then there should be mandatory protection put in place for the species.
And how could the government possibly advantage from people hunting wolves...

There's no set number, there's criteria for animals to be listed as threatened, vulnerable, endangered etc. but the decision to list a species is entirely political. And since the GOP is holding Obama hostage the Wolves don't stand a chance.
I don't want to defend Obama, because that whole "change" thing seemed to be a bit of a lie (besides healthcare reform) but this is really due to the Republican controlled congress that wolves are not protected anymore. If I remember correctly it was snuck into the budget bill as an amendment or something. So while he may be happy to sign off on other environmental destruction this one isn't really his fault.
But hey, who are we to talk? Farmers can still shoot dingoes even though they're protected

I've been petitioning and sending letter with Defenders of Wildlife an activist group in America against the aerial gunning of wolves particularly in yellowstone for years and years now. Sarah Palin and her cronies want to take them down. Why? I haven't the slightest idea.
This is so sick.
