hey everyone

I'm not sure if every state (if you live in the capital city) holds an annual show which includes thriller rides, show bags, 'animal shows' and lots more.

http://www.perthroyalshow.com.au/best-in-show/animal-lovers.aspx

after looking through the animal shows that will be held, some involve breeding, auctioning, dairy etc

But just to clarify, because I am in doubt, does paying a ticket for an entry fee contribute to suuporting these acts...??

Because I am only interested in the show rides for adrenaline, but am I unknowingly contributing to animal cruelty just by paying for the entry fee, even though my purpose to attend is not for the animal events? sad

I think it depends if you have to pay to see the animals? If you have to pay to see the animals, then I don't think you are contributing to it.

Even if seeing the animals are free, I don't think buying a ticket would contribute to it, because wouldn't those people have to pay themselves to show off their animals ect?

Well it would depend if they were paid to be at the show, or if they had to pay to be there.

If they were paid to attend the show then I suppose your entry fee could be contributing in a way....
I know at my local show they have baby animals and cows from farms on display, which I could only assume that the people who run the show paid them to be there (they wouldn't do it for free). And the show would be getting a lot of their money from entry fees to pay for these kind of exhibits.

All I know if that the last time I went to the Sydney show a few years ago it was horribly ironic. In one giant shed there were all these cute farm animals that people could feed and pat. In the shed right across from this one there was an agriculture shed - looking from outside I could see photos and text talking about the meat industry and where our food comes from.

I'm going to the Adelaide show this year (despite the annoying lack of vegan-suitable showbags, bar one or two) and for years I have gone to see the animals (simply because it didn't occur to me that it was unethical), but this year I probably wont... or I'll take my friends there and 'drop' some facts into the conversation...
But I'd say just have fun! I know in Adelaide some of the animals are 'supplied' by the agricultural high school , who also run it, and i must say that the animals are pretty well looked after (not that that makes it right).

Stop kidding yourselves, guys. Of course you are contributing to animal cruelty if you buy tickets. The show lives from people going there and as long as they have enough visitors they will continue with everything they do.  We should speak up about what we think is wrong with these shows and try to open people's eyes.
I saw in an ad today that they have pigs in a cages, forcing them to jump from high up in a pool! This is like midieval entertainment! Are you serious?
Please don't go there. There are so many other things to do in every city.
