they are an animal, they're not vegan or vegetarian, there are lots of deep sea fish that have no eyes as well.

One could go back and forth arguing about this, doing studies (they probably exist) to find out about these creatures, if they feel pain etc.

But why bother? There is plenty on the Vegan menu as is.

Funnily, I worked with a girl who was vegan yet she ate oysters coz she said they didn't have a central nervous system.

Still, unvegan to me.

who cares if something is vegan or vegetarian or not? It only matters what's ethical.

Like, Why do some vegetarians care about a tiny bit of rennet in cheese but have no consideration for the cow or the slaughtered calf that was meant to be drinking the milk?

Oysters dont feel pain, they have no brain, yet they are animals.
If you want to give oysters equal consideration as cows/fish/mice then there should be a better explanation than "they are animals"
and you will then need to be considerate or similar things like sponges, or ask yourself is it ethical to eat a carrot just because us humans classify it as a "vegetable" to make ourselves feel good about murdering it.

wouldn't say it was ok to eat them, but I'm against all sea food because humans are depleting the oceans and the way we're going they'll be empty within something like 30 years. It doesn't matter about whether or not an animal has eyes, sight doesn't equate to consciousness or ability to feel pain.

I'm not sure why eyes are the disputed body part here. What is so special about vision. Would it be more ethical to eat a blind salmon? no.
I guess people think they are less aware?
I cant be speciesist and exclude certain living beings based on anatomical difference.
I personally have never eaten any form of seafood. so obviously i wouldn't eat oysters or mussels.
They look gross anyway, i wouldnt put one in my mouth

Hey feel free to chow down on the endangered eyeless dolphins of the amazon rainforest too ecstatic or the 'not-eyeless endangered amazonian dolphin' soy fibre... same difference.
