Start of my altering some of your favourite dishes to make them vegetarian. Stir fries are also really easy and very healthy. Just take veggies of your choice, sauce of your choice, noodles of your choice and fire up the wok.
As for recipes, Google is the answer! Type in your favourite meal with "vegetarian recipe" tacked onto the end and you shall receive.
I just made a new website www.VeganTasmania.com it's got a massive list on food ingredients so you can easily look up anything on a packet to help you and check you can eat it. I also post recipes on there too that are easy and super yum!
Good on you Madi, we all so excited for you. Money back guarantee that you will feel AMAZING. we have loads of free resources at http://www.veganera.com/ and free Vegan cook book too. feel free to download it. And a massive congratulations.
Thanks everyone!
Hope it works out! If my nine year old sister can refuse to eat meat (or eat s tiny bit of it) so can I
I would also like to take that vegetarian for a week thing, or whatever it is called!
Hey madi! Congrats congrats congrats! You are making a wonderful decision that i wish i made sooner! You will feel fantastic both physically and morally by making this transition.
there is a whole heap of information regarding the nutrients you need to keep an eye on when cutting meat from your diet. But they are all replaceable! Protein is the easiest to replace I think: tofu, wholegrains like brown rice, beans, lentils, legumes nuts and seeds. not to mention great meat substitute products available everywhere these days that are often high in protein.
Other things you need to think about are vitamin B12 (if you are still eating eggs they will cover you for that. if not then there are plenty of b12 fortified foods available) and Iron (make sure you eat your greens!)
The most important thing NOT to do is to just take meat from your diet without adding things in its place, that is when people get unhealthy from going vegetarian.
I'm in love with the for dummies books (have heaps of them) and I found the living vegetarian and the living vegan guides really helpful when I made the switch. they have nutrition info and recipes, everything you need to know really.
