I don't like him, but that's mostly because I don't approve of the title/underlying theme of the show "man vs. wild". the last thing we need is being told that nature is out to get us and imply that we should be alienated from it.

That's a very good point. humans should be a part of nature, not against it.

I didn't even read this post - I just saw the title and it is enough to make me rage. Bear Grylls is a stupid dipshit that runs through shallow creeks and over rocks to look like a legend. His whole show is staged - do some research on the douche lord. He can drink as much of his own piss as he likes, he's still an idiot.

Survivor Man 'Les Stroud' is where it is at.

i went to see him live in adelaide tonight, and whilst he does kill animals on his show, he says he mainly eats a vegan diet when not working.
bear is one of my favourite celebritys, and i think it's really good
it shows that a vegan diet is healthy

i think in society you have a choice of what you eat, but in a survival situation it is totally different.
I agree! It's very cool. Bear doesn't do it for the animals obviously but the fact that he's pretty big right now and is informing people that aside from killing on the show and eating to teach survival skills in the wild he eats an almost vegan diet to stay healthy!
I'm not condoning eating animals at all but it is cool that through this hopefully people will have a better respect for the health benefits of a vegan diet.

" at least he isn't a full time omnivore "...

sigh ... I can't help feel some of these people are MORE ignorant because they have a stupid name and stereotype style tag line to hide behind.

I have wondered what 'vegans' think of bear grylls... and I am glad someone is sensible enough to see good in it. I agree surviving in the wild is completely different...

the whole vegan diet is based around... while we have the convenience of survival, we should do our best to up hold a standard of living, well being and also our own moral stance be it not harming animals inc. people./others.

I think people are foolish to think they are having a 'better' or positive impact just by being vegan or thinking about limited acts positively...

the world is complex and so are its social mechanisms... which drive an economy to waste or prosper....

he gives an insight into HOW sheltered we are... from reality... in our artificial cosy world... toxic and concentrated...

the self righteous undertones in what most of the people have written makes me gag.

that's about it.

p.s.

I can see people/vegans here putting him in the same category as the guy from 'man V food' who " EATS ALOT OF SALAD IN HIS SPARE TIME " (which he needs to to actually live).....  lol bear grylls actually has a lovely attitude to life... and is far from appealing to some fat audience of mouth watering 'omnivores'. also what he eats is informative and critical, even if in a fabricated environment... it is a minimal impact enterprise and he shows appreciation for nature, he isn't walking around with a yellow spray can marking trees for removal while we watch.. merely traversing that place while it exists and the reason it has a mark for removal is because humans find it impenetrable... and we have to drive over everything mindlessly to feel comfortable. (lol ew)

You decide...

one is gross because it is REAL..... and what we are running away from...

the other is gross because it is HUMAN and epitome of disgust "invention".
