Have a read. Raises some interesting discussion. First comes to mind is the testing on animals. Then overpopulation. And then.. well, I'm sure you could pick up five more.
I've always wanted to be a vampire and live forever.
Seriously, I think this new drug is a bad idea. The world is already overpopulated by humans because of modern medicine, we really shouldn't be extending our lifespan. Mother Earth is being pushed to her limit as it is.
Death is a natural part of life. We need to accept that and use our time and energy on more worth while causes.
I'm intrigued by the question of how removing the imminence of death might affect our behaviour. Would people become more hedonistic or lazy, because there is less threat of repercussion and less sense of a deadline to get everything done? Would people have fewer kids if they could carry on their own legacy?
i don't know if any of you have seen the movie mr nobody? but it's based in the future about the last man who is to die of old age. (it stars jared leto)
every person has a "stem-cell pig" and sex has become obsolete.
it's such a good movie, and i feel it relates to this
Considering the fact that our population is almost at 7 billion, is growing at a rate of 200,000 people DAILY and will be 8 billion by 2023. I would say let's not increase our lifespan unless we cut down the number of births!
Don't get me wrong, I like people. But I think we need to seriously cut down our numbers before considering increasing our lifespan. The chinese one-child policy WILL end up being put in place everywhere if this continues....land is running out!
