I want to order a whole pile of books online cos I wanna get back into reading,
I'm ordering Meat is for pussies at the moment, but feel free to let me know of any other decent ones. I like true story ones, such as a boy called it, shauzia, cut & such type
'What Is The What' by Dave Eggers, based on the true story of a Sudanese refugee. It's fantastic
Im going to buy it ! haha
Have you read Shauzia, Parvana & Parvana's Journey?
They're about a woman who lives in the Pakistan and trying to live by the rules while her husband is taken by the Taliban
If you are after something lighter try 'Committed: A Rabble-Rouser's Memoir' by Dan Mathews VP of PETA. Reading it at the moment and its pretty awesome.
Most of Peter Singer's books are interesting, whether you're for his view point or not on ethics.
A little book called 'But You Kill Ants' by John Waddell is great. It goes over all sorts of questions meat eaters ask you and is a friendly, quick book to read.
Most other books I've read recently go more so into science so I can't remember other animal welfare ones I've read right now that you wouldn't know.
Also, for info booklets, I'd recommend Voiceless material - http://www.voiceless.org.au/
I don't see them get a mention here much since I joined but amazing information from the legal side + yummy statistics.
'Betrayed' by Lindsey Harris is pretty good. I'll admit the story line isn't fascinating, but something about the way it's written really draws me in. And if you're into true stories/autobiographies, Cathy Glass books are pretty good. Really... emotional, but good. Like, 'Damaged' and 'The Saddest Girl In The World' and stuff..
On a lighter note, the Maximum Ride series by James Patterson is awesome. It's like, thriller fiction but the way it's written.. I dunno I just really like them ;D
Ooh and the Tomorrow series by John Marsden.
And... anything by Maureen McCarthy.
Yeah,,, I'm done now
