were these the "Why Vegan" ones?
they must cost you a fortune!!!!!!!
Hi Matt,
Nope they weren't the "Why Vegans", these were an environmental trifold leaflet, that I get from VVSQ.
This is my strategy for optimal leafletting:
1) If I'm doing general leafeletting in the city, or an Animals Australia event, I use Animals Australia leaflets. These are inexpensive, and if it is a general public audience I'm happy just to get traffic to the AA website(s)
2) However, if I am specifically leafletting a University, I will use the "Why Vegan?" leaflet (that friends and I buy ourselves). These are designed for students, not with not just the aim of creating awareness of the issues, but with the aim of making on-the-spot conversions to vegetarianism / veganism. Much more expensive, but with a very important goal. I don't use "Why Vegans?" for the general public. See the Vegan Outreach website for their philosophy, in particular the essay "A Meaningful Life". This should explain why.
3) If I am targetting an environmental crowd, say at a climate change rally, or ride to work day, I use a leaflet that is only about the environmental reasons to go vegetarian. This will be either VNV's "Eating Up the World" (which they are running out of), or as yesterday, "So you think you can be a meat eating environmentalist?". I get these from VVSQ, and they are a trifold (single piece of paper, folded twice, with lots of information). They are cheap (about $100 for over 1000 leaflets).
It's important to strategically target one's leafletting. Unless you have lots of money to spend(none of us I guess), I'd suggest getting the "So you think you can be a meat eating environmentalist?" and shoving an Animals Australia "Factory Farming" leaflet inside. This way you get the environmental stuff, plus the animals stuff covered, for minimal cost.
(I'm probably going to get told off by Jesse in a minute!)
