I saw this from Mercy for Animals a couple of months ago and later thought maybe it is an extreme case and perhaps doesn't happen here. I was naive and wrong.
Um, no shit. I feel sick. Isn't it just disgusting? That video doesn't mess around... and a simple 2-minute reminder of the true nature of the reality of the dairy industry.
We took a walk through the cattle sheds at the show yesterday and I wanted to untie the lot of them and run away... there were two 10-day-old calves destined for the dairy industry on display and it broke my heart to look at them.
The only positive was this MONSTER bull who was happy to sit there and take pats from everybody... so placid... at 845kg! The farmer told us he would hit around 1100kg - that's a big boy.

I know huh! One could argue that it is a fringe case. At least I thought/hoped perhaps, but that radio interview stated that due to induced births (mostly to keep milk production up), farmers go around killing calves "with hammers". This is in Australia! WTF is wrong with people!?! All for some milk that we don't need and could argue is bad for your health.

I bet it would. Makes you look at the world as as sad place with so much cruelty and exploitation of non-humans and humans.

He's a breeder, so he'll at least get to enjoy a life on the stud. Hopefully he'll get a nice peaceful life for the rest of his days, once his role in the farm has been fulfilled.
You're right though, I'm really beginning to see the world for all the ugliness that it holds. I don't know why people think it's OK to exploit the beautiful array of creatures which join us on this interesting planet, but I know I'm not going to eat them ever again. Besides, I feel too good having been livin' la vida vegan lately!

It is a sad world we live in when you look too hard
I think a lot might be left over from the earlier days of civilisation where humans were more desperate to merely get by and by any means necessary to survive.
Just a thought.
